Measuring such coatings of ions traveling in narrow, limited spaces inside biological objects is challenging. We assumed that the coating changes the size of the ion and that the speed of the complex may influence its composition. The original Stokes-Einstein relation for diffusion assumes a simple, spherical particle in a homogeneous Newtonian fluid. It was modified to describe an electric-field-driven drift.
