We systematically compare discrete, continuous, and hybrid value encoding strategies using synthetic arithmetic tasks embedded within real-world EHR data, as well as real-world clinical prediction tasks. Our study reveals trade-offs between numeric precision, optimisation stability, and architectural flexibility.
