The Anti-de Sitter/Conformal Field Theory (AdS/CFT) correspondence provides a valuable theoretical framework for this effort via a holographic duality between a theory of quantum gravity in asymptotically AdS spacetime and a conformal quantum field theory on the lower-dimensional boundary.
