Continuum and ab initio modeling suggest that electrons in the conduction bands of these materials realize three-valley Hubbard models with valley-selective, quasi-one-dimensional hopping. Remarkably, the onsite Hubbard repulsion is almost $U(6)$-symmetric without fine-tuning.
