A popular method for evaluating these capabilities is the needle-in-a-haystack (NIAH) test, which involves retrieving a \"needle\" (relevant information) from a \"haystack\" (long irrelevant context). Extensions of this approach include increasing distractors, fact chaining, and in-context reasoning.
