The compact halos produced by SIDM can leave distinct imprints on lensing observations, but the core-collapse timeline for subhalos is difficult to model accurately. This difficulty is an obstacle to accurate substructure lensing predictions, where small variations in core-collapsing subhalos can lead to significant differences in the lensing power.
