We analyze several one-dimensional quantum spin chains and demonstrate the existence of non-analyticities in the geometric entanglement, in particular across a Kosterlitz-Thouless transition and across a transition for a gapped deformed Affleck-Kennedy-Lieb-Tasaki chain.
