Here we have investigated one such compound Ba$_3$CdIr$_2$O$_9$ by x-ray diffraction, dc magnetic susceptibility($\\chi$), heat capacity($C_p$) and also ${}^{113}$Cd nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy.
