Different approaches will therefore naturally have tailored proof-of-principle experiments to benchmark progress. Nevertheless, repetition codes have become a commonly used basis of experiments that allow cross-platform comparisons. Here we propose methods by which repetition code experiments can be expanded and improved, while retaining cross-platform compatibility.
