What structure of $\\F$ do they encode? \\emph{Puzzle~(2)}: gauge-fixing was supposed to eliminate local gauge symmetry, yet the gauge-fixed theory retains BRST --- a residual symmetry that acts on the gauge potential as an infinitesimal gauge transformation.
