The system was implemented by inserting a special nonlinear magnet in a conventional accelerator lattice. We characterized the system by measuring lifetimes, transverse profiles and transverse oscillation frequencies of the 150-MeV electron beam as a function of the strength of the nonlinear insert. The measured shift of the working point and the amplitude-dependent detuning were consistent with theoretical predictions.
