Our approach - dubbed butterfly metrology - utilizes a single application of forward and reverse time evolution to produce a coherent superposition of a \"scrambled\" and \"unscrambled\" quantum state. In this way, we create metrologically-useful long-range entanglement from generic local quantum interactions.
