Zeegers","submitted_at":"2024-12-18T22:25:43Z","abstract_excerpt":"We present the initial results of MEAD (Measuring Extinction and Abundances of Dust), with a focus on the dust extinction features observed in our JWST near- and mid-infrared spectra of nine diffuse Milky Way sightlines ($1.2 \\leq A(V) \\leq 2.5$). For the first time, we find strong correlations between the 10 $\\mu$m silicate feature strength and the column densities of Mg, Fe and O in dust. This is consistent with the well-established theory that Mg- and Fe-rich silicates are responsible for this feature.
