Most topological insulators considered to date are binary or ternary compounds, with the exception of $\\alpha$-Sn. Here we report a comprehensive characterization of the growth, magnetotransport properties, and current-induced spin-orbit torques of $\\alpha$-Sn and $\\beta$-Sn-based ferromagnetic heterostructures.
