The field-structures are observed by the ICEBEAR radar, in the form of Farley-Buneman (FB) waves in the auroral electrojets, and the field-structures themselves move an order of magnitude faster than the saturation speed of the underlying FB waves, implying transient electric field sources up to 330 mV/m in strength.
