These brief X-ray flashes, with light curves featuring rise times of $1-10$ s, durations of $10-100$ s, and recurrence periods of hours to days, represent the most frequent stellar explosions in our Galaxy. With typical energies of $\\sim 10^{39}-10^{40}$ erg, they rank among the most powerful astrophysical transients after supernovae and classical novae.
