We prove that a twisted Higgs vector bundle $(\\calE\\, ,\\theta)$ on $X$ admits an Einstein--Hermitian connection if and only if $(\\calE\\, ,\\theta)$ is polystable. A similar result for twisted vector bundles (no Higgs fields) was proved by S. Wang in \\cite{Wa}.
