The use of weighted orthogonal Chebyshev polynomials for the basis functions leads to stiffness matrices with sparse structure, enabling efficient direct calculations. By an orthogonal projection, rigorous analyses are devoted to deriving a-priori error estimates of spectral accuracy in two norms.
