Deuterons are sampled thermally at the transition from hydrodynamics to transport, and interact in transport dominantly via $\\pi p n \\leftrightarrow \\pi d$ reactions. The measured proton, Lambda, and deuteron transverse momentum spectra and yields are reproduced well for all collision energies considered.
