A direct symmetry-based route to control this spin splitting is to modify the real-space operations that define the altermagnetic spin-momentum locking (SML). Here, we develop a strain-resolved symmetry framework for two-dimensional pentagonal altermagnets, classifying whether uniaxial and shear strain tensors preserve, reconstruct, or eliminate the SML.
