The model combines a simplified Poisson-Nernst-Planck (PNP) model of ion transport through individual mechanosensitive ion channels with channel activation functions calibrated from ad hoc in-house experimental data. The simplified PNP model is validated against bacterial Gramicidin A ion channel data.
