In anticipation of space-based very long baseline interferometry, these systems offer a path to black hole shadow (BHS) imaging beyond Sgr A* and M87*. We present new Submillimeter Array continuum observations of water megamaser galaxies, supplemented by archival ALMA and VLA measurements, to assess whether their AGN cores are bright enough for BHS-scale imaging.
