We show that this problem can be mitigated in mercury-cadmium-telluride quantum wells (HgCdTe QWs) wherein the Auger process is suppressed due to formation of quasi-relativistic electron-hole dispersion imposing strong energy-momentum restrictions on recombining carriers.
