We observed the system with the VLBA in three epochs at a frequency of 4.85 GHz, which provides an angular resolution of about 3 mas. We combined the three radio astrometric observations, 119 RVs (60 VIS and 59 NIR) obtained with the CARMENES high-resolution spectrograph over a period of 8.1 years, and a relative astrometric measurement of an archival H-band Keck NIRC adaptive optics image to fit the orbital motion of the binary system. The VLBA observations resolved the binary system"},"claims":{"count":4,"items":[{"kind":"strongest_claim","text":"The combined fit shows that 2M0508-21 is an M-dwarf binary with a total dynamical mass of 0.459±0.007 M⊙, assuming Gaia parallax.","source":"verdict.strongest_claim","status":"machine_extracted","claim_id":"C1","attestation":"unclaimed"},{"kind":"weakest_assumption","text":"The Gaia parallax is taken as exact for converting the measured angular semimajor axis (26.964 mas) into physical units before applying Kepler's third law to obtain mass.","source":"verdict.weakest_assumption","status":"machine_extracted","claim_id":"C2","attestation":"unclaimed"},{"kind":"one_line_summary","text":"The binary 2M0508-21 has an eccentric orbit (e=0.71, P=2.19 yr) and total dynamical mass 0.459±0.007 M⊙ derived from VLBA astrometry, 119 radial velocities, and one Keck AO point, assuming Gaia parallax.","source":"verdict.one_line_summary","status":"machine_extracted","claim_id":"C3","attestation":"unclaimed"},{"kind":"headline","text":"Combined radio astrometry, radial velocities, and imaging yield a dynamical mass of 0.459 solar masses for the eccentric M-dwarf binary 2M0508-21.","source":"verdict.pith_extraction.headline","status":"machine_extracted","claim_id":"C4","attestation":"unclaimed"}],"snapshot_sha256":"7df371f21ca9ee65e8a2635db7e2072972b60bb608bd6ceaaf904acf34be11ea"},"source":{"id":"2605.04173","kind":"arxiv","version":2},"verdict":{"id":"1f670294-9962-4d91-8e84-b68c0d7ff3ff","model_set":{"reader":"grok-4.3"},"created_at":"2026-05-08T18:01:58.081059Z","strongest_claim":"The combined fit shows that 2M0508-21 is an M-dwarf binary with a total dynamical mass of 0.459±0.007 M⊙, assuming Gaia parallax.","one_line_summary":"The binary 2M0508-21 has an eccentric orbit (e=0.71, P=2.19 yr) and total dynamical mass 0.459±0.007 M⊙ derived from VLBA astrometry, 119 radial velocities, and one Keck AO point, assuming Gaia parallax.","pipeline_version":"pith-pipeline@v0.9.0","weakest_assumption":"The Gaia parallax is taken as exact for converting the measured angular semimajor axis (26.964 mas) into physical units before applying Kepler's third law to obtain mass.","pith_extraction_headline":"Combined radio astrometry, radial velocities, and imaging yield a dynamical mass of 0.459 solar masses for the eccentric M-dwarf binary 2M0508-21."},"integrity":{"clean":true,"summary":{"advisory":0,"critical":0,"by_detector":{},"informational":0},"endpoint":"/pith/2605.04173/integrity.json","findings":[],"available":true,"detectors_run":[{"name":"ai_meta_artifact","ran_at":"2026-05-20T12:37:11.596231Z","status":"completed","version":"1.0.0","findings_count":0},{"name":"doi_title_agreement","ran_at":"2026-05-19T23:31:21.286339Z","status":"completed","version":"1.0.0","findings_count":0},{"name":"doi_compliance","ran_at":"2026-05-19T14:45:03.549329Z","status":"completed","version":"1.0.0","findings_count":0}],"snapshot_sha256":"2ee51d02e8ae3844165f019529b6c0ca82a04eb8ac9cf1a7bb57d5f792e88300"},"references":{"count":0,"sample":[],"resolved_work":0,"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57","internal_anchors":0},"formal_canon":{"evidence_count":2,"snapshot_sha256":"5306739ee0991c4c9412a270fcee0f522fe6234c643863a9cb5722305a154b5b"},"author_claims":{"count":0,"strong_count":0,"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1"}
