Correspondence with the QCD diagrams at the boundary rapidities requires pomeron interaction with the participating nuclei to be exponential and non-local. Commonly used 'eikonal' boundary conditions, local and linear in fields, follow in the limit of small QCD pomeron-nucleon coupling.
