Requirements of high quality optically polished waveguide surfaces needed in high-frequency applications and low-cost manufacturing are practically incompatible in current realizations. Here we demonstrate a new paradigm solution, based on surface functionalization with subsequent electroless plating of conductive micron smooth copper layer on the inner surface of flexible non-conducting poly-carbonate tubes.
