However, entropy cannot distinguish useful uncertainty from detrimental confusion, limiting its effectiveness as a correctness signal. We propose Contrastive Policy Optimization (CPO), which uses token-level contrastive disagreement between reference-guided and vanilla generation distributions for correctness-aware advantage shaping.
