Previous optical spectroscopy established the presence of strong Balmer, [O III], and He II $\\lambda4686$ emission from the nebula, but the powering engine remains uncertain. In this work, we present new integral-field observations of NGC 5408 X-1, supplemented by archival long-slit spectroscopy and Hubble Space Telescope (HST) imaging, and confirm the presence of a composite nebula, with a small He III region centered on the ULX and a large, shell-like H II region.
