In this study, we present a comprehensive surface-science investigation of epitaxial thin films of the charge-transfer insulator LaFeO$_3$(001). The characterization includes low-energy electron diffraction (LEED), high-resolution electron energy loss spectroscopy (HREELS), and photoemission spectroscopy.
