The long range part of the transition potential is described by exchanges of the pseudoscalar mesons ($\\pi$, $K$, $\\eta$), while the vector mesons ($\\rho$, $\\omega$, $K^\\ast$) may be considered as the medium- and short-range part in the meson exchange picture.
