The ability to predict the Ly$\\alpha$ luminosity of galaxies would open up new ways of exploring the Epoch of Reionization (EoR), and to estimate Ly$\\alpha$ emission from galaxies in cosmological simulations where radiative transfer calculations cannot be done.
