Although the same local operator may enter perturbative scattering, a vacuum Nambu-Jona-Lasinio (NJL) instability, or finite-density Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) pairing, these regimes are distinguished by their interaction channels, quadratic kernels, and quantum states.
