Fix a Borel subgroup $B\\subset G$ and a maximal torus $T\\subset B$. The Cartan space $\\a_{G,G/H}$ is, by definition, the subspace of $\\Lie(T)^*$ generated by the weights of $B$-semiinvariant rational functions on $G/H$.
