The elastic attenuation coefficient, $\\alpha(\\omega)$, of transverse phonons of low frequency, $\\omega$, exhibits power law scaling as the packing fraction $\\phi$ is lowered towards $\\phi_c$, the critical packing fraction below which rigidity is lost.
