We investigate the worldvolume theory that describes N coincident M2-branes ending on an M5 brane. We argue that the fields that describe the transverse spacetime coordinates take values in a non-associative algebra. We postulate a set of supersymmetry transformations and find that they close into a novel gauge symmetry. We propose a three-dimensional N=2 supersymmetric action to describe the truncation of the full theory to the scalar and spinor fields, and show how a Basu-Harvey fuzzy funnel arises as the BPS solution to this theory.

  1. A Novel Matrix Model for the M5-brane?

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 8.0 of 10

A maximally supersymmetric formal extension of BFSS by a 5-bracket exists once the 2-bracket structure constants are promoted to a dynamical self-dual field subject to Filippov and BPS quadratic constraints.

  2. Tensionless limit of M5-brane and conformal symmetry of its bosonic body

    hep-th 2026-07 conditional novelty 6.0 of 10

The tensionless M5-brane has a complete action whose bosonic sector is invariant under 11D conformal symmetry and reduces to conformal chiral 2-form electrodynamics when transverse fluctuations vanish.

  3. An Introduction to String Newton-Cartan Holography and Integrability

    hep-th 2026-03 accept novelty 3.0 of 10

String Newton-Cartan holography, the non-relativistic limit of the AdS/CFT correspondence, is organized and reviewed around five consistency conditions, with its classical solutions, spectrum, and integrability structure.

  4. A Crash Course in Supersymmetric Field Theory Across Dimensions

    hep-th 2026-07 unverdicted novelty 2.0 of 10

Pedagogical crash-course notes on supersymmetric field theory across 2–10 dimensions, organized around recurring structures such as holomorphy, dualities, indices, BPS data, and anomalies.
