This resolves a conjecture of Andersen from 1989 for all large $n$ and improves previous results of Alon-Pokrovskiy-Sudakov, and then Balogh-Molla, which showed that rainbow paths/cycles of length $n-O(n^{1/2}\\log n)$ exist in this setting. Furthermore, with related methods, we show that, for every sufficiently large $n$, every Latin square of order $n$ contains a cycle-free transversal of order $n-2$","authors_text":"Alexey Pokrovskiy, Alp M\\\"uyesser, Candida Bowtell, Richard Montgomery","cross_cats":[],"headline":"","license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"math.CO","submitted_at":"2026-08-06T17:58:27Z","title":"A proof of Andersen's rainbow path conjecture for large $n$"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2608.06369","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:e20b44e6d66bf3149f2ca4de1ebf513f51ee0900b4f3bf4c9134921461646ad6","target":"record","created_at":"2026-08-07T01:41:29Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"92c7ebfeecbace0514243da113bc7c257d16d6e7726215d7762f4587823efda8","cross_cats_sorted":[],"license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"math.CO","submitted_at":"2026-08-06T17:58:27Z","title_canon_sha256":"61915566de04682158bb5003991173b7818a6705949004ec0c3688b09dcbc0d1"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2608.06369","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"d19f7e03c757f1340286e974093b901cba14c23bb041e5d71c99ae3f633a7114","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"d19f7e03c757f1340286e974093b901cba14c23bb041e5d71c99ae3f633a7114","first_computed_at":"2026-08-07T01:41:29.821372Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-08-07T01:41:29.821372Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"gMOkcisXyvdJ4usWPhhBXaNTT/DL/uHOKbZ/6/K67a132VG6i790N+3W8Od6IEXXdeIQxHYABFGjK3idsbORDw==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-08-07T01:41:29.822914Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2608.06369","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:e20b44e6d66bf3149f2ca4de1ebf513f51ee0900b4f3bf4c9134921461646ad6","sha256:4cac6d5f6a2a0a6bc9b7e61c356df6003c4fc36778da11a5dcfb1d275228fddf"],"state_sha256":"92446258a9c2bb5700eaa707bf0a2932bf97bd4c5106b56692114832978835b2"}
