More precisely, we prove that for a quadratic polynomial $f\\in \\mathbb{F}[x,y,z]$, which is not of the form $g(h(x)+k(y)+l(z))$, we have $|f(A\\times B\\times C)|\\gg N^{3/2}$ for any sets $A,B,C\\subset \\mathbb{F}$ with $|A|=|B|=|C|=N$, with $N$ not too large compared to the characteristic of $\\mathbb{F}$. We give several applications. We use this result for $f=(x-y)^2+z$ to obtain new lower bounds on $|A+A^2|$ and $\\max\\{|A+A|,|A^2+A^2|\\}$, and to prove that a Cartesian product $A\\time","authors_text":"Frank de Zeeuw, Le Anh Vinh, Thang Pham","cross_cats":["math.NT"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.CO","submitted_at":"2016-12-29T04:13:59Z","title":"Three-variable expanding polynomials and higher-dimensional distinct distances"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"1612.09032","kind":"arxiv","version":3},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:3b11bc7aa72c917ef2cb8231498c842534d6ad4420059f35e9d8e2dbadc92079","target":"record","created_at":"2026-05-18T00:50:03Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"9299728eb016c514b2425f8c64cc601e341a5e6404d520cfef3eaf7536c3750b","cross_cats_sorted":["math.NT"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.CO","submitted_at":"2016-12-29T04:13:59Z","title_canon_sha256":"c4babe975a05c50f7a533441c7e04bf7fec22f3ec1fab4167bde63eb4e688785"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"1612.09032","kind":"arxiv","version":3}},"canonical_sha256":"d46469f31e798b56390f7456fe48a474ad0d64e6bf64fd7715cb6b39a37b7f32","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"d46469f31e798b56390f7456fe48a474ad0d64e6bf64fd7715cb6b39a37b7f32","first_computed_at":"2026-05-18T00:50:03.921570Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-05-18T00:50:03.921570Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"6iOPW1u+2fc5OVG9fwKWaHU7SawrLC0Xgp3jdjl8q6IidoElnuKudkua0rCetseiVsznzCT1cfS5q6eByoKxCQ==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-05-18T00:50:03.922443Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"1612.09032","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":3}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:3b11bc7aa72c917ef2cb8231498c842534d6ad4420059f35e9d8e2dbadc92079","sha256:ded9bd1afb83b0b37e187ad80612a0067ff8d1365b7a7904e13e119af38b0e92"],"state_sha256":"d7a19a2d2b769e9d153fb6882065621bd65aef3ea2c29d2c885c8c86e3bcbaa9"}
