The boundary of the Gelfand-Tsetlin graph has at least three incarnations --- as a discrete potential theory boundary, as the set of finite indecomposable characters of the infinite-dimensional unitary group, and as the set of doubly infinite totally positive sequences. An old deep result due to Albert Edrei and Dan Voiculescu provides an explicit description of the boundary; it can be realized as a region in an infinite-dimensional coordinate space.\n  The paper contain","authors_text":"Alexei Borodin, Grigori Olshanski","cross_cats":["math.PR","math.RT"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.CO","submitted_at":"2011-09-07T10:33:04Z","title":"The boundary of the Gelfand-Tsetlin graph: A new approach"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"1109.1412","kind":"arxiv","version":2},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:5d221de53603f2a197689a7a6ee6db5259a49faf7d26f09802a138e0abe2998c","target":"record","created_at":"2026-05-18T03:32:08Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"ffd0f64f6dea3476b6a6cfa4f2d12070894c5283f7aeb534a9c1df423818caf9","cross_cats_sorted":["math.PR","math.RT"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.CO","submitted_at":"2011-09-07T10:33:04Z","title_canon_sha256":"24df4abeef8ffa2f65dc1ca97e2151f35e0a92dcfb1ed64b14d920ab9df5e028"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"1109.1412","kind":"arxiv","version":2}},"canonical_sha256":"df544e79b8af66593d6fb5746b6866de4dcb8b7b7604e5bee025ad89030d6bd6","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"df544e79b8af66593d6fb5746b6866de4dcb8b7b7604e5bee025ad89030d6bd6","first_computed_at":"2026-05-18T03:32:08.103927Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-05-18T03:32:08.103927Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"XXiZqNmOlnL1lt6n9Vz5Mzk8ABSLU50kVPEuPcf+4ZtGyWsQ4u0M1ac6JvlEQXI9FOsKGOTqHLo1VHuU3aSjBA==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-05-18T03:32:08.104583Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"1109.1412","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":2}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:5d221de53603f2a197689a7a6ee6db5259a49faf7d26f09802a138e0abe2998c","sha256:3458bdfef0888230c283fb6a8c91c769720f1f8cffb8611818753d0d3b24b1f5"],"state_sha256":"0d82409e9460acba98634bda99d6544be6d2eccf1b7e56f7df62e588d49530a1"}
