Neutrons, which compose most of a neutron star, capture low-energy neutrinos from the cosmic neutrino background and release a high-energy electron in the MeV range. Also, planets contain unstable isotopes that capture the cosmic neutrinos. We show that this process is feasible and results in a non-negligible flux of electrons in the MeV range in neutron stars. We present a novel observable, the redshift evolution of the temperature of neutron stars due to ","authors_text":"Beatriz Hernandez-Molinero, Carlos Pe\\~na Garay, Raul Jimenez","cross_cats":["astro-ph.EP","astro-ph.HE","astro-ph.SR","hep-ph"],"headline":"","license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"astro-ph.CO","submitted_at":"2025-03-10T19:07:59Z","title":"Effects of the Cosmic Neutrino Background Capture on Astrophysical Objects"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2503.07788","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:d17ab99430ba0d536dd6a288172c1796928483d064572e93784a2c833fed1c90","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T10:28:43Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"897374170e65cf6bd94ad2a3e79ee20588c41dadca653aa6a1856945205d30eb","cross_cats_sorted":["astro-ph.EP","astro-ph.HE","astro-ph.SR","hep-ph"],"license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"astro-ph.CO","submitted_at":"2025-03-10T19:07:59Z","title_canon_sha256":"6a2bd3425add6859da955b9a9f8968aed2a9e68419f895c31a5046f0e683413c"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2503.07788","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"d8a5948aaaee61feee3cec6adcff78726373fb8657a9255b62ad297cfe58bd60","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"d8a5948aaaee61feee3cec6adcff78726373fb8657a9255b62ad297cfe58bd60","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T10:28:43.779000Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T10:28:43.779000Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"7+SMB1k8ItWTM9QP3WWeUzUb2StfzouPFjlbsdA4BYDCUhRqjPtO1pabsCe2fBeEDNy1JWl69AO99og8uzB/Bg==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T10:28:43.780007Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2503.07788","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:d17ab99430ba0d536dd6a288172c1796928483d064572e93784a2c833fed1c90","sha256:ba623927e6c429bbb3d7e305bb0406632d59bde37beba72df19d9568786fcd90"],"state_sha256":"c332298e3080ff7f0777baf4f71743523adf74a9e5b30a8a5083d9434d8ad4e4"}
