Our condition can be regarded as a generalization to nonconservative systems of a similar concept introduced by Abeyaratne, Knowles, and Truskinovsky for subsonic phase transitions and by LeFloch for nonclassical undercompressive shocks to nonlinear hyperbolic systems.
