Assuming the Riemann hypothesis, we prove that $$ S(t)=\\Omega_{\\pm}\\bigg(\\dfrac{\\log t\\log\\log\\log t}{\\log\\log t}\\bigg). $$ This improves the classical omega results of Montgomery and matches with the $\\Omega$-result obtained by Bondarenko and
