These layered monochalcogenides appear in four major polytypes depending on the stacking order, except for the monoclinic GaTe. Bulk and few-layer $\\epsilon$- and $\\gamma$-type, and odd-number $\\beta$-type GaS, GaSe, and InSe crystals are noncentrosymmetric.
