Working in the large N limit, the model can be solved non-perturbatively using the saddle-point method for sufficiently strong negative coupling. At high temperature, the O(N) model dimensionally reduces to ${\\cal PT}$-symmetric quantum mechanics, for which powerful non-perturbative solution methods exist. It is found that the solution from quantum mechanics can be matched by the saddle-point method in quantum field theory when allowing for saddles beyond the pr","authors_text":"Paul Romatschke","cross_cats":["math-ph","math.MP","nucl-th"],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"hep-th","submitted_at":"2024-12-13T19:00:00Z","title":"On the negative coupling O(N) model in 2d at high temperature"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2412.10496","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:47b8dcd5a498523986a5d2b41e299f2801ddef971966a1f25d5052a7695fd1f1","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T09:49:16Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"37695772d2b91a65cbdad0300edcdfc54b54b9a068cbc85ce9842ff9cfbb6fe9","cross_cats_sorted":["math-ph","math.MP","nucl-th"],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"hep-th","submitted_at":"2024-12-13T19:00:00Z","title_canon_sha256":"24bcd6845105513338f7ff07b432a6185b17edc10baaadb6709fd085b108bc7d"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2412.10496","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"eb81a238cef35cec67c98f809bc54c3d8124f7890115ff68ad8f495907ffd885","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"eb81a238cef35cec67c98f809bc54c3d8124f7890115ff68ad8f495907ffd885","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T09:49:16.773231Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T09:49:16.773231Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"LXGXtZk969qSzcerpHEpjcrR8r2ao6iLmRcI5jkryCIxwMJK4h0upB/a0Nghbwuy6nWEdNjiB4b5ro5fh508Aw==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T09:49:16.773632Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2412.10496","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:47b8dcd5a498523986a5d2b41e299f2801ddef971966a1f25d5052a7695fd1f1","sha256:e5b2a8449b79f712a05eddd823754abba460b592632863354b15ee42571d29cb"],"state_sha256":"4a6c508a4e93b33359b00719f68649198260c08a312f2de286d53fad198d6dcc"}
