The measurements of the branching fraction and effective lifetime of the $B_{s}^0\\to\\mu^+\\mu^-$ decay by the ATLAS, CMS and LHCb collaborations, as well as the search for $B^0\\to\\mu^+\\mu^-$ decays are summarised with a focus on the experimental challenges.
