Decoding non-stabilizer codes is, however, a highly non-trivial task. In this paper, we show that a decoding circuit for Calderbank-Shor-Steane (CSS) codes can be straightforwardly extended to handle general QECCs. The key to the extension lies in the use of a pair of classical-quantum (CQ) codes associated with the QECC to be decoded. The decoding error of the proposed decoding circuit depends on the classical decoding errors of the CQ codes","authors_text":"Masato Koashi, Takaya Matsuura, Yoshifumi Nakata","cross_cats":["cond-mat.stat-mech","cond-mat.str-el","hep-th"],"headline":"","license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"quant-ph","submitted_at":"2022-10-13T01:44:26Z","title":"Decoding general error correcting codes and the role of complementarity"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2210.06661","kind":"arxiv","version":5},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:0d100a08f7049d2a1e9e32cdb21c851e4555a92a945cb0fd4123de538082c8b2","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T10:00:32Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"0627992e81281d447842b03c7bf49658970fd41dc4ffd9af048ab3ab3e3e0fa3","cross_cats_sorted":["cond-mat.stat-mech","cond-mat.str-el","hep-th"],"license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"quant-ph","submitted_at":"2022-10-13T01:44:26Z","title_canon_sha256":"532958f69f42bff4dd89593bd5b4f2a0d75ca6d056eb4008bbd73c89bafb00c7"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2210.06661","kind":"arxiv","version":5}},"canonical_sha256":"06620d201098e3ba0d4745736639217d29896e6f44a59b04ebf065deb8e21c7b","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"06620d201098e3ba0d4745736639217d29896e6f44a59b04ebf065deb8e21c7b","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T10:00:32.018183Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T10:00:32.018183Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"fYDBcHxb2EQrdUO5kbhKJixY+V2fAMkoZ39huh9fAkDzhHR75TIPCFcJwLLriWPb7hLYJDAM39zn9RZ0OQYKAQ==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T10:00:32.018604Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2210.06661","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":5}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:0d100a08f7049d2a1e9e32cdb21c851e4555a92a945cb0fd4123de538082c8b2","sha256:01a4ecd8845e72f5639735cd3d43be15906fe43bf6a5cf7307254abeea33f004"],"state_sha256":"b0abebe8e1321b5a937981703dc4045b9f6886d55f9f26f613c83e3c11d6f74f"}
