A sequence of rational points $(x_i,y_i)\\in C(\\mathbb Q),\\,i=1,2,\\ldots,$ is said to form a sequence of consecutive squares on $C$ if the sequence of $x$-coordinates, $x_i,i=1,2,\\ldots$, consists of consecutive squares. We produce an infinite family of elliptic curves $C$ with a $5$-term sequence of consecutive squares. Furthermore, this sequence consists of five independent rational points in $C(\\mathbb Q)$. In particular, the rank $r$ of $C(\\mathbb Q)$ satisfies $r\\ge 5$.","authors_text":"Mohamed Kamel, Mohammad Sadek","cross_cats":[],"headline":"","license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.NT","submitted_at":"2016-02-18T16:28:16Z","title":"On sequences of consecutive squares on elliptic curves"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"1602.05862","kind":"arxiv","version":1},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:5b05ae77be55f288c10da6747dab9d78bd89c7eb4c0bd05b7bf460cbf31b7aef","target":"record","created_at":"2026-05-18T00:38:11Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"d230350fe5946d274105f3627fd375503559174baa697c33b9d9aeb77a711096","cross_cats_sorted":[],"license":"http://arxiv.org/licenses/nonexclusive-distrib/1.0/","primary_cat":"math.NT","submitted_at":"2016-02-18T16:28:16Z","title_canon_sha256":"abda26aa0100c631e7b861f85bf7d47157547e624d06340e1f7689cf397953c9"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"1602.05862","kind":"arxiv","version":1}},"canonical_sha256":"0ebd2363abe7e725e07a722f8de9c1d175eea2b55babb516e39ce25b9adbd755","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"0ebd2363abe7e725e07a722f8de9c1d175eea2b55babb516e39ce25b9adbd755","first_computed_at":"2026-05-18T00:38:11.618495Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-05-18T00:38:11.618495Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"n/mnhnfG3GIjVHWJQT+c6Qxn4rusJg2OPZFXqZQX4Kymi5FAy0ptPVBtg57d0EiPt6h+CJxxhEXKeEX6T9VVBw==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-05-18T00:38:11.619163Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"1602.05862","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":1}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:5b05ae77be55f288c10da6747dab9d78bd89c7eb4c0bd05b7bf460cbf31b7aef","sha256:d8da509ed0c4eac1a020862c61aa155f6410f3ec9588ac05436f8a0b3e37990a"],"state_sha256":"1438a3131a81ca92297a5704371824befa7e6d0394358349b7a5cae522d9a8e6"}
