The branching fractions $\\mathcal{B}[\\psi(4040) \\to J/\\psi \\eta]$ and $\\mathcal{B}[\\psi(4160) \\to J/\\psi \\eta]$ estimated in this paper can remarkably explain the experimental measurements of Belle and BESIII within a reasonable parameter range.
