Here we study the higher-group structure in (3+1)D $\\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge theory with an emergent fermion, and point out that pumping chiral $p+ip$ topological states gives rise to a $\\mathbb{Z}_{8}$ 0-form symmetry with mixed gravitational anomaly. This ordinary symmetry mixes with the other higher symmetries to form a 3-group structure, which we examine in detail. We then show that in the context of stabilizer quantum codes, one can obtain logic","authors_text":"Maissam Barkeshli, Po-Shen Hsin, Ryohei Kobayashi","cross_cats":["hep-th","math.QA","quant-ph"],"headline":"","license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"cond-mat.str-el","submitted_at":"2023-11-09T19:00:00Z","title":"Higher-group symmetry of (3+1)D fermionic $\\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge theory: logical CCZ, CS, and T gates from higher symmetry"},"references":{"count":0,"internal_anchors":0,"resolved_work":0,"sample":[],"snapshot_sha256":"258153158e38e3291e3d48162225fcdb2d5a3ed65a07baac614ab91432fd4f57"},"source":{"id":"2311.05674","kind":"arxiv","version":3},"verdict":{"created_at":null,"id":null,"model_set":{},"one_line_summary":"","pipeline_version":null,"pith_extraction_headline":"","strongest_claim":"","weakest_assumption":""}},"verdict_id":null}}],"author_attestations":[],"timestamp_anchors":[],"storage_attestations":[],"citation_signatures":[],"replication_records":[],"corrections":[],"mirror_hints":[],"record_created":{"event_id":"sha256:f72db3f2d181588edd1f205a945712935c1039bd0119c66e1a901cc9b210e64a","target":"record","created_at":"2026-07-05T08:16:23Z","signer":{"key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","signer_id":"pith.science","signer_type":"pith_registry"},"payload":{"attestation_state":"computed","canonical_record":{"metadata":{"abstract_canon_sha256":"1fe46e92ecfe27aee812c857bdb34d341ff8562222344e66fbcf9c83e91f552b","cross_cats_sorted":["hep-th","math.QA","quant-ph"],"license":"http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/","primary_cat":"cond-mat.str-el","submitted_at":"2023-11-09T19:00:00Z","title_canon_sha256":"309b21c61da9aa0fd66e67c4f4947716b30333341a5172e2b624fb659dc8f9f4"},"schema_version":"1.0","source":{"id":"2311.05674","kind":"arxiv","version":3}},"canonical_sha256":"1813816e4b9c5d769af248e7b77f26711ad99d5ecb85cee7362bdfc14f69e528","receipt":{"algorithm":"ed25519","builder_version":"pith-number-builder-2026-05-17-v1","canonical_sha256":"1813816e4b9c5d769af248e7b77f26711ad99d5ecb85cee7362bdfc14f69e528","first_computed_at":"2026-07-05T08:16:23.370297Z","key_id":"pith-v1-2026-05","kind":"pith_receipt","last_reissued_at":"2026-07-05T08:16:23.370297Z","public_key_fingerprint":"8d4b5ee74e4693bcd1df2446408b0d54","receipt_version":"0.3","signature_b64":"MTkHUlY39hSvpto8ZEf45tK4QoOd7gmsqMy5dwv5OJHx2uu9fVo9qlePR0/vFFHbl6AwmDrmq1/ZOFzR137/Dw==","signature_status":"signed_v1","signed_at":"2026-07-05T08:16:23.370758Z","signed_message":"canonical_sha256_bytes"},"source_id":"2311.05674","source_kind":"arxiv","source_version":3}}},"equivocations":[],"invalid_events":[],"applied_event_ids":["sha256:f72db3f2d181588edd1f205a945712935c1039bd0119c66e1a901cc9b210e64a","sha256:4d023cf1f4c13a506d35be3582f401ad701aec06ff0d080b3de23acf5ee16be0"],"state_sha256":"11a89dd81f8a9c27f76cda267c105bc077f8d24ff352603eda0d7309a3720001"}
