This method enables high-throughput nanofabrication of single NV centers on sub-100 nm length scales. Secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS) measurements facilitate depth profiling of the implanted nitrogen to provide three-dimensional characterization of the NV center spatial distribution.
