Coupled to the fields inside the gyrokinetic field-particle Lagrangian, the reduced-particle model defines polarization and magnetization effects appearing in the gyrokinetic Maxwell equations. It is also used for the reconstruction of the gyrokinetic Vlasov equation from the particle characteristics.
